You can play Instant Lotto NZ with My Lotto’s new instant play feature. Instant Play is a range of fun online games that give you the chance to win instant prizes.The lotto games can be played from NZ$0.50 to NZ$5 and you can play with your smartphone be it Android or iPhone and you can win a prize of up to NZ$100,000.
Here’s step by step guide as how to play Instant Lotto games with your mobile.
Next you will have to register yourself if you are new player with your mobile. This registeration form needs to be filled by you where you enter your email, name, create a login password, your gender, location and city where you live in NZ, and get security question answer it in case you lose your login password and then enter your email preference and tap on the button register now.
A verification link will be send to your email that you entered. Tap on the link and verify that you are 18 plus of age to play Instant lotto.
You will then be asked to NZ bank account number and mention your spending limits to have responsible gambling. This will also help keep your online tickets secure.
Now go to Instant lotto games lobby and select the game you wish to play
Instant lotto games cost $0.5- $5.
To play Instant lotto games you click on game which will then load on to your mobile screen. In the game you need to reveal numbers or whatever the game rule demands. You click on prize to reveal the game’s prize. Click on bonus to reveal the potential prize multiplier. If you select “Try”, no money will be deducted from your account, and you will be given the chance to play a demo version of that Instant Play game, so any prizes revealed will not actually be awarded to you.
To buy the ticket for Instant lotto you need to open MyLotto account with a New Zealand bank account and a New Zealand-issued Visa or MasterCard.
If you don’t have a New Zealand-issued Visa or MasterCard, you will need to send copies of any two of the following forms of ID:
- New Zealand Drivers Licence
- Firearms Licence
- New Zealand Birth Certificate
- New Zealand Marriage Certificate
- Document evidencing a bank account in your name (e.g. deposit slip)
- New Zealand-issued International Drivers Licence
You can deposit funds into your MyLotto account either by credit card (Visa, Visa Debit, or MasterCard only) or from your bank account using phone banking or online bill payment as said above.
To top up online with mobile
- Login to MyLotto
- Tap the balance icon in the top right of the screen
- Click the ‘Top Up’ button
- You will see options to top up with a linked credit card or via mobile banking
Weekly top up amount: There is a weekly top up limit of $150. This is the maximum amount you can deposit to your Player Funds per week.
Minimum and maximum deposits: For a single transaction, the minimum deposit amount is $1. The maximum deposit amount is $150. Also note that any deposit you make cannot cause your Player Funds balance to exceed $999.
All of your tickets, past and present, can be viewed in ‘Financial history’ which is under ‘My funds’ in ‘My Account > Settings’.
‘Financial history’ also shows when and how much has been deposited and withdrawn from your MyLotto account.
If you change the credit card linked to your MyLotto account, you may see a ‘pending transaction’, ‘authorisation’ or ‘hold’ on your card statement. This will usually appear as a $1 transaction.
This does not take any funds from your account and is used to check that the card you are using is valid. The transaction will be reversed or will disappear from your account within 5-7 days, depending on your bank.
The total MyLotto weekly and monthly spending limits are $150 and $500 respectively. Within this allowance, the spending limit for Instant Play is $50 per week. You can also set your own personal spending limits lower than Lotto NZ’s rules.
If you want to set or change your personal spending limits within Lotto’s current allowance, login into MyLotto, click on your account balance, then ‘Settings’, then ‘Spending limits’.
Your weekly spending limit will reset on the following Sunday and your monthly spending limit will reset at the first day of the next month.
The results of each Instant Play ticket will be displayed at the end of the game play. You can also view the outcome of completed tickets under “My Tickets”.
Winning tickets for Lotto NZ games are eligible to claim prizes for 12 months from the date of the draw for which they were purchased. Instant Kiwi prizes can be claimed up to 12 months from the closing date of the game.
Any prizes unclaimed after this date are returned to the prize pool for use in future promotions.
All Lotto stores have ‘Lost, Stolen or Damaged Ticket’ forms that can be filled in and sent to Lotto’s claims department.
Tickets bought in the app or online cannot be cancelled once the purchase has been confirmed. However, the lotto make sure that you get the chance to check you’re happy with your purchase before you click ‘Buy Now’. You are able to cancel tickets purchased in-store as long as it is on the same day, at the same store and before the draw.
Also note that you cannot take printed My Lotto ticket to a store for checking or claiming a prize. While you are able to print your MyLotto tickets for your own records, these cannot be checked at a retail Lotto store.
But it’s really easy to check your ticket online after the draw has taken place – you can even watch an animated draw which checks the numbers on your ticket as the balls are drawn. MyLotto will automatically check all tickets overnight following the draw and let you know via your account if you have won any prizes.
To withdraw funds or your wins from your account, simply follow these steps below:
- Login to your account
- Tap the balance icon in the top right of the screen
- Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Withdraw funds’ then follow the instructions
The funds will be deposited into your nominated bank account and the minimum amount you can withdraw is $10. There may be a delay from when you make the withdrawal to when the funds show in your account – this will depend on your bank and could be up to three days.
Note that Instant Play Hours are from Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun and is 6.30am to 10:10pm

Also each night lotto system becomes unavailable to enable it to process the day’s transactions, typically from 11pm to 6.30am. During these times, the app will be offline. You can check your tickets at any other time. If the app is not available to you outside of these hours.
Also if you’re on an iPhone and getting a message that says “the Lotto NZ App is only available in New Zealand”, (but you are actually in New Zealand) you might need to change your phone’s location settings for the App.
This setting is required by Apple’s terms and conditions to ensure that lottery products are geo-restricted to the location of the lottery provider.
- To edit your location services settings:
- Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and toggle this to on.
- Then select Lotto NZ App icon and allow location services ‘While Using the App’.
