What Are The New Features In Mobile Smartphones With Android 12 OS?
1. Earthquake Warnings
Google wants people to stay safe and protected and last year Google launched what the company calls the world’s largest earthquake detection network, based on the tech built into Android devices.
Google’s system alerts people in affected areas seconds before an earthquake hits, giving them advance notice in case they need to seek safety.
The Earthquake alert system utilizes the sensors on the user’s smartphone to detect any earthquakes. People in the affected areas can get warnings before an earthquake hits. This feature has been available in New Zealand and Greece, Turkey, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Google says that it is prioritizing the earthquake alert system feature in countries that are prone to higher earthquake risks and launch it in more countries over the coming years.

2. Star Messages
The second awesome new feature to be found in the latest Android OS is star messages on the Messages app. Here users keep track of what’s important and easily find it later without scrolling through all of their messages. Users can tap and hold a message, and then start it.
3. Kitchen Emoji Stickers
This is another colorful feature launched by Google. With Kitchen Emoji stickers users can quickly get back to the ones they use most frequently.
Now you will start seeing contextual suggestions in Emoji Kitchen once they have typed a message. These will help users discover the perfect emoji combination at the exact moment they need it.
This new feature on Android will be compatible with English, Spanish, and Portuguese languages and run on devices with Android 6 or above.
4. Voice Access
Among the new features of Android Voice control on Android smartphones is also getting improvements. Users can now jump into their favorite apps with just their voice.
Further, Google is bringing a feature for people with motor disabilities, where Voice Access gives them a quick and efficient phone and app navigation with just their voice.
Google is also bringing gaze detection, where users can ask Voice Access to work only when they are looking at the screen — so that users can naturally move between talking to friends and using their phone.
Voice access also has enhanced password input. When it recognizes a password field, it will let users input letters, numbers, and symbols. For example, you can say “capital P, a, s, s, w, o, r, d” or names of symbols (like “dollar sign” to input a $), so it’s faster to safely enter passwords.
5. Android Auto
The last new feature to mention for Android phones is Android Auto. Android Auto is also getting new customizations that will make life easier for users.
Users can personalize their launch screen directly from their smartphones and manually set dark mode. Google is also making it easier to browse content with new tabs in media apps, a “back to top” option, and an A to Z button in the scroll bar.
Google has also added new app experiences to help enhance users’ drive. EV charging, parking, and navigation apps are now available to use in Android Auto.
The messaging experience has also been improved, so users can access their favorite messaging apps from the launcher screen. Users can easily read and send new messages directly from apps like WhatsApp or Messages which are now available globally.

To start with, the new privacy dashboard gives you an overall view of apps using the phone’s location, camera, contacts, and much more. The notification center also has quick access to disable any features of the phone that an app is using.
For example, if Facebook is using the microphone while you’re using another app, this part of the notification center will show you explicitly that Facebook is using the microphone. Pressing this will disable the use of it to Facebook, and other apps if you wish.
- Android 12 will also ask you for permission from an app to use a feature of the phone. You can select to allow it while running the app, only once, or not at all.
- You can also opt to only provide an approximate location to some apps, such as weather apps which don’t need to know exactly where you are.

- Alongside this, a new feature called Car Key enables you to unlock your compatible smart car with your phone. This will allow you to unlock, lock, and even start the engine from your smartphone.
- It uses UWB (ultra-wideband) technology, meaning that you can walk up to your car and it’ll unlock, without you even having to take your phone out.
- You’ll also be able to share digital access to your vehicle with others – allowing you to lend your car to a friend without giving them a physical key and allowing them access for some time.
- In a slight nod to its competitor, Google is also touting better support for third-party app stores.
- Google’s password manager is also being redeveloped, with a cross-platform integration across your Google apps and devices.
- When using an app such as the camera, there will be a subtle UI hint that certain features of the camera are being used, similar to how it shows in Apple’s iOS 14.

Finally, Google has also confirmed that it will be preparing Android 12 to be more accommodating towards third-party app stores and installers like the Amazon App Store, APKUpdater, and Samsung Galaxy Apps, to name a few.
Currently, third-party app stores require direct user permissions to manage and update apps on their platform, but it looks like this change will allow third-party stores to directly manage and update apps.
